Updating your SureDone default eBay template

On August 25th, 2017, we have made available an updated template that mirrors the original SureDone default template along with an modernized version of our eBay template. Examples of the templates are at the bottom of this page. We recommend using the modernized version of the template (ebay-product-2017.htm).

As you read this document, note that any time we update the default template it will appear in your default template directory or in a directory named default-(year). This guide focuses on the 2017 update, but will remain relevant if we update the template, again, at a later time.

Note

If you update your template, you will need to relist your items for it to take effect on eBay. Updating your template on SureDone does not live update all eBay items using it.

Original default eBay template

  • Has been updated to point to secure (SSL) assets to meet eBay Summer 2017 update guidelines

New and modernized default eBay template

  • Has been updated to point to secure (SSL) assets to meet eBay Summer 2017 update guidelines
  • Has been made responsive for mobile use
  • Has more modern look and feel

Depending on your circumstances, you may need to copy the new templates into your account to use them:

  • If you signed up for SureDone after August 25th, 2017 you are automatically using the modernized template
  • If you signed up before August 25th, 2017, and add a new eBay instance, your new instance will automatically use the new modernized template
  • If you signed up before August 25th, 2017, and are using the default template, or implemented your own customized template, and you would like to use either the updated default template or the new modernized template, please follow the directions below.

Updating the SureDone default template

If you would like to use one of the two new default templates, follow these directions:

  1. Go to Settings > Templates

  2. Click on "default" or "default-2019".

  3. There will be numerous files listed on the resulting screen. There are two that are relevant for updating your template:

ebay-product.htm - Original default template but updated for the new eBay Summer 2017 guidelines
ebay-product-2017.htm - New modernized default template which meets the new guidelines, has been updated for mobile responsiveness, and has a new modernized look

  4. Click "download" next to the template file you would like to use

  5. You will now have the template file downloaded to your computer in the directory you have designated as your download directory within your browser.
  6. Go to Settings > Channels

  7. Click on the eBay instance you would like to add the revised template to. For our example, we're going to use the eBay main instance.

  8. Click on the "Templates" tab.

  9. Drag the template you downloaded to the "Drop files or click to upload" box, or click the box to select the file from your computer.

  10. If you'd like to set this as your default template (for items that do not specify a template), select it in the Description Template Default dropdown and then click Save Changes.

  11. If you open up your instance settings after saving, you will now see the template file listed next to "Download Ebay templates".
  12. Relist your items to eBay in order to push the new template. We suggest trying a few items first in order to test that you have done everything correctly.
