Why can't I add a custom field?

If you cannot add a product custom field, check the field name, field limits, and whether the field is still being created.

1. Check the API Name

Open Settings → Custom Fields → Products and select Add field. The Label is the display name; the API Name is the identifier used in imports and the API.

  • Use 1–50 lowercase letters and numbers, starting with a letter. Do not use spaces, underscores, or punctuation in the API Name.
  • The API Name must not already exist or be reserved by SureDone. Check the existing fields first. Choose a specific, unused name. Adding a channel prefix does not guarantee that a name is available.

2. Check the limits

An account can have up to 1,000 product custom fields. A Varchar field can have a maximum length of 2,500 characters. The combined database row size can prevent adding a field before the field-count limit is reached, especially when many large Varchar fields exist.

If you are near these limits, contact SureDone Support with the API Name, type, and length you are trying to create and the error shown. Ask Support to review the field structure before removing fields or changing an existing setup.

3. Allow time for creation

After Save changes, field creation runs in the background. If the page says the field is being created, wait a few minutes and refresh before trying again. If it still does not appear, contact Support with the time of the attempt and the field details.
