Creating New Attributes

You will need to create new attributes inside Magento.

  1. To begin, navigate to Catalog>Attributes>Manage Attributes.

  2.  Click + Add New Attribute.

  3. You will need to use the following fields:

Attribute Code: SureDone will use this field to sync to Magento. You will use this code as the header in your bulk uploads in SureDone.

Scope: Should be set to Global for most users/use cases.

Global Scope is required for variation attributes.

For more information, please read the Magento Guidehttp://merch.docs.magento.com/ce/user_guide/Magento_Community_Edition_User_Guide.html#configuration/scope.html

Catalog Input Type for Store Owner: You can restrict the type of values allowed, such as dates, or numbers. The most common is Text Field or a Dropdown list.

You have to select the Dropdown input type for attributes that will be used for variations..

Apply To: Select which types of products should be allowed to use this attribute.  Generally, this should be set to  “All Product Types”

You may also select All Product Types, to make it universally available.

Use to Create Configurable Product: If you want to use this attribute for variation listings, select Yes. Otherwise select no.

  4. Once you’ve created the attribute, you can specify a list of valid values, if you preferMagento will only allow values from that list, otherwise, it will create the product, but drop that specific attribute from the product. This is especially important for variations.
  5. SureDone will sync using the “Admin” value, but will display the “Default Store View” to the user. If the second field is left blank, it will default to the “Admin” value.
  6. If you need to edit an attribute after you create it, simply click on the attribute from the list and make your edits.
